Like designing an advert for a printed magazine, your email marketing success will greatly rely on the actual message which you broadcast.

If you are sending your first email newsletter, do you know what the winning formula is right away? It may take you a few attempts before you start hitting your targeted open and click through rate. So what is the best way to find that winning formula for your industry?

Split testing has the answer

Rather than sending everyone inside your mailing list exactly the same message, why not mix it up a little. Create two mailing lists from your database and send each list a different message and different subject line.

After running a split test, you may discover that the result from message and subject line ‘A’ were more successful then message ‘B’. From this you will be able to quickly identify which message works for your industry.
