Creating custom preview text for your email marekting
When we receive an email, your email browser will show you a preview, this could be via a pop up message. Also, when looking at your inbox your browser will show you a preview of the message.
This preview contains ‘headline’ information, such as who it is from, the subject header line and a preview of the first few lines of text.
When we receive new emails, or are surveying the contents of our inbox, we generally make our decisions on which emails to read and which to delete based on this preview information.
As email marketers, we have control over key information such as the send from address and subject header line. But, typically we don’t have control over the preview text.
So why is this a problem?
As we’ve discussed, the decision to delete or read is typically based on the preview information and if it sparks a level of interest of curiosity with the viewer.
AS your viewer’s email reader will purely grab the first few lines of test, generally these are not really the right message to populate your preview with.
Some people like to put a disclaimer line at the very top that reads “if you’ve received this email in error” - or similar. With that text being grabbed by the email browser to use as a preview, this can have disastrous effects on your unsubscribe rates.
With cBuilder, email blaster have addressed that issue.
Now you can create your own preview text.
cBuilder 3.0 gives you complete control over the preview text that is shown to the viewer when they first receive your email.
In the text edit box, you can write your own custom text. What’s great, is that this text does not have to shown or pulled from anywhere in the body of your email - you can free text whatever you want.
The text that you create can be written specifically to reinforce your subject header line. This gives you a huge advantage over other mailers that your viewer may receive, as yours is written purely for maximum impact when shown as a preview.
Custom preview is a great feature with cBuilder 3.0 and really helps to create consistently successful email marketing.
